Process starts to sell off former care home

Date: Friday 4th August 2017

COMMUNITY groups which might be interested in taking on Appleby’s former Edenside care home have been invited to register their interest by 8th September, after Cumbria County Council officially instigated the selling process.

The building was registered as a “community asset” by Eden Council in September after councillors decided it contributed to the good mental and physical health of both the residents and the more elderly members of the community.

This means it cannot be sold until groups seeking community uses have been given an opportunity to bid.
