Penrith man denies rape charges

A PENRITH man denied three charges of rape when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today.

Mark George Farrell (28), who is required to live at an address in Carlisle as part of his bail conditions, pleaded not guilty to the three counts, but admitted one charge of possessing the Class B drug ketamine, during the short hearing.

It is alleged that the rape offences took place on 1st April in Middlegate, Penrith. Farrell, formerly of Brougham Street, Penrith, was released on bail until the next hearing.

His trial, which is expected to last up to five days, is set to begin on 17th September.
