Paula tackling Ironman challenge in memory of mother
EDEN councillor Paula Breen will be taking part in the gruelling Ironman Barcelona challenge on Sunday in celebration of turning 50 years old next month and to raise funds for charity.
Paula, who is general practice manager of Temple Sowerby Medical Practice, is aiming to raise £1,000 for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s children’s hospice, and is doing the Ironman event memory of her mother, Jennifer Breen, who died following a long battle with cancer.
Ironman Barcelona features three back-to-events comprising a 3,800m swim in the Mediterranean followed by a flat and fast 180km bike ride and then a 26-mile run from Calella to Calella-Santa Susanna.
