New Friday bus service for Brough

Date: Monday 11th June 2018

BROUGH will soon have a new bus service linking it with Kirkby Stephen and Sedbergh on a Friday.

Western Dales Bus, the community bus based in Sedbergh which is run entirely by volunteers, is extending its S4 service.

From 22nd June, the bus will continue on to Brough, after it has stopped in Kirkby Stephen, to provide village residents with three buses every Friday. It will depart from Brough Clock at 11-26am, 1-27pm and 3-21pm. A spokesman said: “This will give them about one and half hours or three and a half hours in Kirkby Stephen, or about two and a half hours in Sedbergh.

“This change is part of the alterations being made by Western Dales Bus to its timetables following the introduction of the new summer rail timetable.”

The spokesman added that the timings of the S5 Thursday service between Kirkby Stephen and Kendal will also change slightly from Thursday, 21st June, and the route through Ravenstonedale will be simplified.

Mike Walker, of Kirkby Stephen Town Council, said: “We hope that visitors to the area might be encouraged to use the service for further walking opportunities and visiting historic sites such as Brough Castle.”
