Man robbed in Penrith

TWO people have been arrested on suspicion of robbery following an incident in Penrith on Saturday morning.

Police say that between 5am and 6am, a 45-year-old Penrith man was picked up from McDonald's by the alleged offenders, who were in a silver Audi A3.

They drove round the town centre before stopping at KFC, where the victim was then assaulted and his bag, containing money, stolen. The victim received minor injuries to his face.

A man aged 29 and a 36-year-old woman, both from South Shields, were arrested on suspicion of robbery. Police say they have both been released under investigation.
