Man dies after A66 crash
POLICE are appealing for information after a pedestrian died following a collision with an HGV on the A66 near Penrith this morning.
Emergency services were called at 2-59am following the incident on the A66 eastbound carriageway just before Kemplay roundabout.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the HGV, a man in his 30s, was not injured.
The A66 was reopened just before 8am, except for one lane between Brougham and Kemplay roundabout, which remains closed. Police say this lane will be opened soon.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who saw the pedestrian between 2-30am and 3-15am or who has dashcam footage.
