Man cleared of child sex crimes thanks jury
A MAN has thanked a jury after he was unanimously acquitted of a host of child sex charges he had strenuously denied.
Liviu-flavius Maduta (31) went on trial at Carlisle Crown Court this week having pleaded not guilty to six charges. Three of these alleged that he caused or incited a child to engage in sexual activity; and a further three alleged sexual activity with a child aged under 16.
The court heard that Mr. Maduta, of Rosthwaite, Keswick, had never previously been in trouble with the police.
The girl, aged in her early teens, had alleged that illegal activity took place during 2016, and left her “in shock”. But, giving evidence, Mr Maduta vehemently denied her allegations, insisting they were “not true”.
