Heavy rain fails to stop “good crack” at Appleby horse fair
HEAVY rain hit gypsies and travellers yesterday as they set up camp in Appleby for the annual horse fair.
Wet weather meant the town and Fair Hill were quieter than previous years. However, those who did turn out said it would not keep people away and they expected a good weekend ahead.
Initial figures showed 360 caravans and 118 bowtops attending the fair.
