Drivers “facing Russian roulette” on A66
DRIVING on the A66 has been branded “Russian roulette” following three serious collisions in just six days near Kirkby Thore, one of which resulted in the death of a 72-year-old man.
Eden residents are said to find using the single carriageway stretch of the major road “frightening”, and concerns have also been raised over problems faced in outlying villages as traffic is diverted.
Fears have been expressed that the large volume of cars and lorries being diverted from the trunk road on to country roads makes them dangerous in turn.
