Cemetery chapel could become holiday homes
THE disused chapel at Penrith cemetery could be converted into holiday lets by Eden Council after it failed to find a buyer for the property.
The council has abandoned its plans to sell the unique chapel on Beacon Edge, which had been on sale for just over a year. The Grade II-listed building was last used ceremonially two years ago.
The council is looking at renovating it to become an income-returning asset for its tourism service.
