Byre dig reveals 136-year-old letter
WHEN a man was digging up the floor of a byre he noticed the glint of a small medicine bottle — but little did he suspect the contents would provide nuggets of information about the property.
Huw Gruffydd, who is 63 and lives at Cross House, Catterlen, with his wife, Julia, moved to the property in 2015. He was removing the cobbled floor of the former farm building on Saturday.
Although the glass vessel was smashed he discovered an envelope had been rolled up inside it addressed to Mr Lightburn, Builder, Catterlen, which had a postmark dated 15th August, 1883.
