Arrests after A66 crash
A MAN has died after a collision on the A66 at Braithwaite, near Keswick.
Pedestrian James Greenwood, aged 61, of Market Drayton, was involved in a collision with a silver BMW 1 Series shortly after 12-30am on Saturday.
Police arrested three people from West Cumbria — a woman in her 30s and a man in his 20s on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and a man in his 20s, on suspicion of assisting an alleged offender.
All three people have been released while investigations continue. In a tribute, Mr Greenwood's family said: "It is with great sadness that Jimmy was tragically taken from us. A keen biker who had a larger than life personality, with family and friends at the centre of everything he did. His death has left a hole in our family that will never be filled."
The A66 was closed for five hours for a forensic investigation. Anybody with information should contact Cumbria Police on 101 quoting log number five of 7th April 2018.
