Players can be “incredibly proud”

Date: Friday 1st February 2019

A CUP dream came to an end on Wednesday for the Ullswater Community College under-15 rugby team as they went out of the national NatWest Vase competition at the quarter-final stage — but not without a fight.

Cheered on by around 200 fellow students and supporters, who packed the stand at Penrith RUFC’s Winters Park ground, making for an electric atmosphere, they took on a strong side from Arden Academy, Solihull. At one stage just after half-time it looked as though the visitors might run away with it as they stretched their lead to 15-3, but the Ullswater boys showed great strength of character and determination to pull it back to 15-13, but ultimately it was not to be.
