Penrith to host Liverpool Ladies v Durham Women FC friendly
LIVERPOOL Ladies FC will play Durham Women FC in a pre-season friendly at Penrith's Frenchfield Park on Sunday, 12th August, the Cumberland FA has announced.
FA Women’s Super League (WSL) outfit, Liverpool Ladies, who have recently completed the signing of striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk from Merseyside rivals Everton Ladies, were last crowned WSL champions in 2013 — and will be looking to repeat that feat in the coming season.
The match at Frenchfield, which will kick off at 1pm, will provide a fantastic opportunity for local girls' teams, players, parents and football fans to attend a high-profile women's game in their home county.
Jess Nelson, Cumberland FA football development officer, said: "We're over the moon to be welcoming these two fantastic sides to our county in a couple of weeks; not just to witness a great game of football, but to offer the opportunity for youngsters and local fans to take in the WSL matchday experience.
"We're really looking forward to it and hope to see as many people as possible from local clubs and teams in attendance."
Furthermore, Cumberland FA is giving its affiliated teams the chance to walk out with either Durham Women or Liverpool Ladies and be ball girls for the match.
