National titles for fell runners

Date: Friday 29th September 2017

KESWICK AC runner Carl Bell on Saturday secured a silver medal in the English Fell Running Championships to go with a gold in the British — both jointly with Chris Arthur, of Bowland Fell Runners.

The 35-year-old was one of 17 Keswick runners who travelled to Kettlewell, in the Yorkshire Dales, for the final race in this year's English Fell Running Championship.

And seasoned fell runner Jim Davies was celebrating a memorable double following the final race of the English championship at Great Whernside on Saturday.

The 51-year-old member of Borrowdale Fell Runners was first V50 home which gave him the English crown to go with the British title he also won this season.

Jim, who lives at Cliburn, has been fell running for more than 30 years, and has previously won the V40 English and British title and the V45 English, but this is his first double.
