May hopes to keep squad together after “unbelievable” team effort
KYLE May has confirmed he and coach Andy Coyles will return to take charge of Penrith AFC first team next season.
May reflected this week on an “absolutely unbelievable” effort by his players during 2017-18, when they banished the threat of relegation after a dreadful start to their Northern League Division I campaign.
The Blues had gained just nine points, won three games and were inside the drop zone when May and Coyles were unveiled as the side’s new management duo in early November. Penrith had also shipped more than 50 goals in just 18 league games at that stage.
But the pair’s arrival prompted a change in fortunes, with only two defeats in their next 11 games in all competitions.
