High Cup Nick race a record-breaker …

Date: Friday 1st March 2019

THIS year’s Inov-8 High Cup Nick fell race, held on Saturday, was a record-breaking event in terms of number of entrants, temperature and times. The village of Dufton, where the race starts and finishes, was blessed with fantastic weather and the course to High Cup Nick and back was the driest ever seen by race organisers.

With 500 pre-entrants, plus additional on-the-day entries for the junior races, Dufton braced itself for the race. With help from many villagers, as well as people from Knock, Appleby, Penrith and Croglin, a massive team was deployed to marshal the course, capture the finishers, register the runners, process the results and shepherd the car park — new this year thanks to the Wills family.
