THREE sides from Eden were involved in this week’s Westmorland Football League cup finals, played at Parkside Road, Kendal.

There was double delight for both Appleby sides as the first team defeated Sedbergh Wanderers to add the High Sheriff’s Cup to the Westmorland FA Benevolent Trophy they won a few weeks ago, while the Reserves, who have just been crowned Division III champions, beat Penrith Royal on Monday to lift the Peter Daws Memorial Shield.

However, there was disappointment for Castletown United, who paid the ultimate penalty for missed opportunities — including a spot kick — as they lost to Kendal United Reserves in Tuesday’s Mason and Freeman Cup final.
