Defensive horror show leaves Blues

PENRITH crashed to their ninth and 10th Northern League Division I defeats this week as their dreadful start to the season continued.

Dejected manager Jim Nichols reflected on the “same story” on Tuesday night after watching his side impress in spells at Ashington, but shoot themselves in both feet with another defensive horror show.

The Blues lost 4-1 in Northumberland, having suffered a 5-3 home defeat to Ryhope CW on Saturday — when they took a 1-0 lead into half-time. They have just six points from their opening 12 league matches, in which they have conceded 33 goals and scored 15.
