PENRITH suffered an agonising 118th minute defeat in Wednesday's Cumberland Cup final at Brunton Park.

Martyn Coleman —who was named man of the match — fired the Blues in front in the 44th minute, but former Penrith player Scott Allison equalised after the break. Then, with penalties beckoning, Dave Symington slotted home the winner.

Penrith manager Jim Nichols said he was "really proud" of his team who he thought were "probably the better side".
