Date: Tuesday 2nd May 2017

SAILING clubs across Cumbria are set to welcome families and individuals who want to try their hand at the sport.

It is part of the Royal Yachting Association’s (RYA) national Push The Boat Out campaign aimed at getting people on the water for free or at a low cost over nine days from Saturday, 13th to Sunday, 21st May.

Bassenthwaite Sailing Club (www.bassenthwaite-sc.org.uk) are offering taster sessions from 10am-3pm on Sunday, 14 May; Ullswater Yacht Club (www.ullswateryachtclub.org) is having tasters and a chance to look round the RYA Club of the Year from 1pm-5pm on Saturday, 20th May; and

Glenridding Sailing Centre (www.glenriddingsailingcentre.co.uk/offers-events) are offering sessions from 10am-5pm on Sundays, 14th and 21st May.

“Push The Boat Out is a great introduction to all aspects of boating,” said Adam McGovern, north west regional development officer for the RYA. “After having a go at the taster sessions, you can continue to learn to sail with instructors delivering the acclaimed RYA method of progressive training.”

All venues advise visitors to wear clothes and footwear that will not spoil if they get wet. A towel and a change of clothes are a good idea.
