Blues are boxing clever in new season fitness bid

PENRITH AFC’s first team players are aiming to be fighting fit for the 2017-18 campaign after going through some punishing pre-season workouts.

Nichols has enlisted the help of Eden-based Ally Morrison — a former footballer-turned-boxer — to build up his players’ fitness levels in recent weeks.

“They have been running round Frenchfield with logs, big tree trunks, in twos and threes; they have been pushing sledges with breeze blocks up and down the road; they have been doing hill runs up the hill at the back of the ground,” said Nichols.
