EXCELLENT player performances and sterling off the pitch efforts were celebrated at the Penrith AFC senior men’s presentation night.

A host of hard-earned end-of-season awards were handed out at Frenchfield Park on Saturday following eventful campaigns for the first XI in the Northern League, and also the club’s Reserves and Academy teams at Westmorland League level.

Senior chairman Billy Williams said: “We look upon ourselves as very much a community club and thanks must go to everyone who takes part in achieving this aim.”

He added: “We would encourage any players or people who want to be part of the club to join us in making it happy and successful going forward.”

Goalkeeper Stuart Dixon was named the Herald’s first team player of the year at the presentation night. This was for consistently good performances between the sticks during a challenging season in which, he said, team spirit prevailed as a threat of relegation from Division I was banished.
