Replace plastic PCs with camera vans
Sir, I read with great amusement the article (Herald, 31st March) about the plastic PC being stolen from Shap.
Surely having to install a plastic replica of a PC holding a speed gun highlights the dire state of policing in Cumbria and, no doubt, the whole of the UK.
Although I do support controlling vehicle speeds through villages and towns, is it not time to implement the camera vans? The camera vans could do a very good job in built-up areas if they weren’t so busy carrying out highway robbery on the open roads.
If someone calls the 101 number with information about the incident in Shap, will they get to speak to a real person or a plastic robot? The latter, I suspect. Yours etc,
