May Day fun in the sun
Sir, On behalf of Penrith Lions I would like to thank all the people who helped to make it a successful and enjoyable May Day carnival in the town.
After nearly a year of planning almost everything went according to plan, with the lovely weather being a big bonus.
George Bowman’s horses and carriage once again made a splendid sight transporting the May queen and her attendants to the town.
The Lions coffee shop was well supported and thanks go to local supermarkets for donating provisions for it, and also to the Lions ladies and friends for running the cafe.
The children in the junior schools had been very busy for the handwriting and poster competitions and entries were of a very good standard, giving the judges a difficult time in choosing the winners.
Thanks also go to the local councils for their support. Yours etc,
(President, Penrith Lions Club)
