A MEMBER of the public has been praised by police for doing a “super job” in helping an elderly woman who was found face down on the ground.

The woman was found on the pavement at Carleton Road, Penrith, at about 7pm on Sunday. She had fallen and cut her face.

The person who found her phoned for an ambulance and, alongside a police community support officer, who was passing at the time, helped administer first aid to stop the bleeding. The woman was covered in blankets to keep her warm.

The member of the public also called for the woman’s son, who arrived around the same time as the ambulance. She was then taken to hospital with injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening.
