Grandmother killed in night-time collision

A GRANDMOTHER has died after she was involved in a collision on the A595 at Red Dial, near Wigton.

Wendy Helen Bolson, aged 79, of Caldbeck, was a pedestrian when she was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf and a BMW 116 at about 10-15pm on Monday.

Mrs Bolson was treated at the scene by doctors and ambulance crews but was pronounced dead. She leaves a husband, five children, 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Police say the full circumstances of the collision are being investigated. The drivers of the vehicles were two men aged in their 20s from the Wigton area.
