“Desperate” theft from field

Date: Friday 22nd December 2017

A LIVESTOCK trailer with no brakes or headlights was taken from a field at Renwick at the weekend along with some sheep hurdles and hay racks.

Owner Bev Page, from Hunsonby, said the thieves had removed a padlock in order to gain access to the field and remove the items, many of which bore her postcode and were identifiable by the red and yellow paint on them.

She said the theft was most likely to have occurred on Sunday morning, as the ground was too muddy to drive on unless it was frozen. “To me it was quite a petty theft because they weren’t worth that much and the trailer was old and knackered. It just shows how desperate they are to take stuff,” she said.
