Church roof lead theft

POLICE are investigating the theft of lead flashing from a church roof in the Keswick area.

A large quantity of flashing was stolen from the roof of St Kentigern’s Church, Crosthwaite, between 8-30pm on Thursday, 14th June, and 8am the following day. Damage was caused to the roof, a police spokesman said.

Officers are also investigating a theft that occurred on Monday at approximately 7am in the area of Blease Road, Threlkeld. Red diesel and roof slates were stolen from a derelict property.

A spokesman said: “Police would like to hear from anybody that has encountered a small, blue VW van in the area at the time.” Anybody with any information is asked to email 101cumbria.police.uk or call 101.
