Christmas in jailfor Penrith man

A PENRITH man will spend Christmas in prison after breaching a suspended sentence by stalking a woman in the town.

James Douglas Malyn (55), Cedar Close, was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, on 4th December.

This related to an offence on 2nd December of making contact, approaching and assaulting Audrey Elaine Malyn, which he was prohibited from doing by a restraining order made in September. Malyn appeared back before the Bench at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday from custody He was charged with breaching that suspended sentence and sentenced to an immediate 12 weeks in prison.

He faces further charges of harassing and stalking Ms Malyn between 5th and 19th December, both of which he admitted.

The case was committed for sentence at Carlisle Crown Court on 19th January.
