Artists meet prince

Date: Friday 24th March 2017

A MILBURN couple met with Prince Charles this week during a royal visit to Yorkshire.

Artist Sarah Cemmick and her husband, David, a sculptor, were invited to attend the visit on Wednesday at The Courtyard, Settle, which houses work from artists.

The couple, who have studios at their home, were invited to attend the royal visit but asked to keep it a secret, and didn’t even tell their children, Rosie, 14, and 12-year-old Woody.

Both Sarah and David had their work on show when the Prince of Wales visited, and Sarah said he took a keen interest. He asked about David’s sculptures and Sarah’s lino print work and the processes they both use to create their art. Looking back on the day, Sarah wished she had told Prince Charles that it was thanks to the Prince’s Trust that she was able to set up her own business 20 years ago.
