Arrest made as police probe woman’s death

DETECTIVES reinvestigating the death of a Penrith woman 26 years ago have arrested a man from Carlisle.

Alison Bell, aged 25, grew up on the Pategill estate but was living in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, when she died on 13th December, 1991.

A Cumbria police spokesman told the Herald: “An investigation is ongoing in relation to the circumstances of the death of Alison Bell, who died in 1991. The constabulary reopened the investigation in September, 2016, and have now arrested a 64-year-old man from Carlisle as part of their inquiries.”

The man has been bailed until next month as inquiries continue.
